Daisy Baby Shop

Web developer (team project)

UK baby & parenting e-commerce — client brief, team delivery, and revision cycles.

Details

Daisy Baby Shop was a client-led project where the team I worked with had been given a clear brief and had built the site to the client’s specifications, with a few revisions.

We translated the client’s requirements into a polished storefront experience — balancing brand, product presentation, and practical shop flows while iterating on feedback until the site matched what they needed.

About the business

Daisy Baby Shop is an independent UK retailer based in Yeovil, Somerset. Mike and Zoe founded the business in 2009 (originally as UK Slings) and grew it into a full baby and parenting store named after their daughter Daisy. The shop sells across categories such as seats and bean bags, baby wearing, bathtime, bedtime, feeding, health and safety, travel, toilet training, and toys — stocking trusted brands alongside clearance and promotional ranges.

What I contributed

As part of the development team, I implemented and refined the site against the client’s brief rather than owning product strategy end to end. That included WordPress and WooCommerce work: category-led navigation, product listing patterns (simple purchases vs. variable products), promotional pricing display, and homepage modules that surface new arrivals, popular lines, gift ideas, and social proof.

When feedback came back from the client, we ran focused revision passes — layout tweaks, merchandising blocks, and shop UX details — until the storefront matched their expectations for a friendly, trustworthy family brand.

Highlights on the live site

Shoppers get a conventional but content-rich e-commerce experience: mega-menu browsing by need, hero campaigns (gift vouchers, featured travel systems, bean bags), product grids with sale badges, and reassurance around free UK delivery over £40, 30-day returns, and secure checkout (PayPal, card payments, and buy-now-pay-later options such as Klarna where enabled).

The site also leans on reviews and reputation — on-site testimonials plus embedded Google reviews — and editorial “why shop with us” storytelling about the shop’s history. For a long-running independent retailer, that combination of catalog depth and human trust signals is central to how the site performs as a sales channel, and it was the standard we were working toward throughout the build.
